Global Water - Water Level Logger (WL14X) Global Water - Water Level Logger (WL14X) Pressure Transducer/Datalogger for Recording Level, Flow & Pressure DATA EZ-PC Software Included for PC analysis Tabular Display/Printout Data in ASCII Spreadsheet format RS232 Cable included (connects data port to PC) LOGGER Weatherproof enclosure Fits inside 2" pipe Records 6,000 readings 12 bit or 1/4,000 resolution Battery powered CABLE Marine grade, heavy urethane jacket Barometric pressure vent Lengths up to 500' SENSOR Submersible pressure transducer, fully encapsulated Amplified and temperature compensated High accuracy (0.2% overall, 0.1% linearity) 3/4" diameter wet-wet transducer (no vent moisture problems) Description The Water Level Logger provides a datalogger with a submersible pressure transducer for remote monitoring and recording of water level, flow, and pressure data. This highly reliable and accurate water logger records 6,000 readings and is programmable from one reading per second to one reading per hour. Ranges of 0-3', 0-15', 0-30', 0-60', 0-120' and 0-250' are available. A 25' cable is standard, with optional cable lengths to 500' (WLEXC). The Water Level Logger's datalogger is housed in a weatherproof cylindrical enclosure which slips inside a 2 inch pipe. The Logger is easily adapted with standard hardware for well head mounting or other installations. The internal 9 VDC battery powers the logger and sensor for one year. EZ-PC software allows simple upload of the Logger's ASCII spreadsheet format data to standard spreadsheets on a PC computer. The Water Level Logger's level sensor is fully encapsulated with marine-grade epoxy. The electronics are encased in epoxy so that moisture can never leak in through the O-ring seals or work its way down the vent tube to cause drift or sensor failure (as is the case with other sensors). The vent tube is sealed directly to the sensing element, and any moisture that may enter the vent tube only comes in contact with ceramic, not the electronics. The submersible pressure transducer uses a unique silicon diaphragm to interface between the water and the sensing element. This silicon diaphragm is highly flexible and touches the sensing element, producing a sensor with exceptional linearity and very low hysteresis. The pressure transducer utilizes a stainless steel micro-screen cap to protect the sensing element. This protective cap has hundreds of openings, making fouling the sensor with silt, mud or sludge virtually impossible. Specifications Specifications Input: Analog 0-4 VDC Recording Interval: Programmable (minutes): 1, 2, 3, 6,12, 15, 20, 30, 60 Memory: 6,000 readings, wrap-around type Recording Period: 1 hour interval: 256 days; 15 minute interval: 64 days; 5 minute interval: 21 days Battery Life: Lithium 9 VDC battery: 1 year. Alkaline 9 VDC battery: 6 months Enclosure Size: 1 5/8" diameter X 10" long Weight: 1.5 lbs Computer Interface: RS 232C, 9-pin female connector provided Software: 3.5" disc, DOS compatible Software Features: Programmable Record Interval, Scaling for Engineering Units, Output in Spreadsheet Format, Real-Time Monitoring Top of Page Software Software Features EZ-PC provides many useful features such as: real time monitoring, measurement interval and engineering unit selections, station ID, and sensor calibration. EZ-PC makes saving data from the Water Level Logger to your computer easy. Requirements EZ-PC will run on almost any PC-type laptop or desktop computer. Running EZ-PC requires a computer with at least a 386SX processor, that runs MSDOS 3.1 or later, and is equipped with a standard RS232 serial communications port. The Water Level Logger includes the RS232 cable. The Main Menu EZ-PC's user-friendly menu allows several features for customizing Water Level Logger options and accessing stored data. Main Menu 1 Data Logger Clock (11 Oct 95 16:02:07) 2 Sample Interval (15) 3 Sensor Delay (15) 4 Station ID (Global Water 1) 5 Move Data to File (375) 6 Clear Data Buffer 7 Read Data Continuously 8 Y Intercept (yyy.yyy) 9. Slope (sss.sss) 0. Quit Make selection (number followed by enter): Data Data is downloaded from the datalogger and collected as an ASCII comma-delimited file. Installation and Applications The Water Level Logger's pressure sensor may be placed slightly below the lowest expected water level. When ordering, select the sensor range that will cover the maximum water level change (this is not necessarily the total depth of water). Select the smallest water level range possible to ensure greatest accuracy. The Water Level Logger has a cylindrical enclosure that is designed to slide into a 2 inch PVC pipe. For monitoring groundwater, the sensor can be installed in a PVC pipe with its lip resting on the top of the pipe. For monitoring surface water, a protective stilling well can be constructed of PVC pipe with several holes near the bottom to allow water to flow through the pipe and reach the sensor. The pipe may be attached vertically to a post, or on a slant down the bank. Water Level Loggers are useful in the following applications: groundwater monitoring, surface water monitoring, sewer flow monitoring, stormwater studies, streamflow monitoring, infiltration/inflow studies, pump tests, and much more...
